The PKP CARGO Capital Group, the leader in rail freight transport in Central Europe, is dynamically developing its activities in the automotive transport segment. The Group is increasing its share in the transport of finished vehicles and car parts, increasing the volume of regular transport from car factories in Slovakia to the port of Koper in Slovenia.
The transport is carried out by PKP CARGO International. The train covers a distance of 650 km through three countries – Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia – in just one day. The use of a modern multi-system locomotive enables smooth passage without the need to change rolling stock, which significantly reduces transport time and increases operational efficiency. Only the drivers change, and they must have the appropriate qualifications and knowledge of the language in the given country.
The steep increase in the volume of these transports confirms our strong position in the region of Central Europe and our ability to handle complex, international logistics chains,’ emphasises Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail, CEO of PKP CARGO S.A. in restructuring. – Cooperation with large logistics companies and vehicle manufacturers is a sign of trust for us and an incentive for further development in this demanding segment. Thanks to such activities, the Group is implementing a strategy of changing the structure of transported goods – she adds.
The contracts that PKP CARGO International has concluded with international logistics companies cover a period of cooperation lasting as long as three years. The company currently transports vehicles of eight different brands, as well as car parts and components. Depending on the type of car, one train can transport between 90 and 200 cars. The total length of such a train is over 500 metres.
Our priority is to ensure reliable and timely deliveries, which are crucial for the stable functioning of the automotive industry – says Łukasz Grzesło, CEO of PKP CARGO International. Thanks to route optimisation, modern rolling stock and close cooperation with our partners, we can meet the high standards and demanding expectations of our customers.
In the face of rising fuel costs and challenges related to CO2 emissions, rail is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to road transport. The PKP CARGO Group consistently invests in modern technological solutions that improve logistics operations and reduce environmental impact.
Thanks to the constant development of international connections and an increased share in automotive transport, the PKP CARGO Group is strengthening its position as a strategic partner for car producers and logistics companies in Central Europe and is planning further expansion in this segment.
