The centrally issued declaration on the founding of Čechofracht, Czechoslovak joint stock company for sea shipping, and on the modification of the decree establishing the Czechoslovak joint stock company for international forwarding, was released by the Ministry of Foreign Trade on 12 March 1952, giving the date of the founding of the company as 1 January 1952.
The sphere of business included performance of the following tasks related to international forwarding:
- peration of maritime shipping using the company’s own ships
- purchase or other manner of acquisition of seagoing ships with accessories and equipment, and the sale thereof
- all forms of chartering of cargo shipping space; representation of foreign shipping and transport companies
- direct and indirect securing of cargo shipping space, mostly for consignments exceeding 10 tonnes in weight
- acquisition of information on maritime transport and rates for customers
- performance of tasks related to rates and complaints in the area of sea shipping
- participation in business undertaking of international maritime and overland shipping companies as well as of international brokerages.
