PKP CARGO Group is the largest rail freight carrier in Poland and a leading rail carrier in the European Union. PKP CARGO Group offers its customers integrated logistics services that combine rail (the largest railway fleet in Poland), road and sea transport. The Group transports goods for several thousand customers individually in Poland, as well as in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary and Lithuania. In March 2015, the company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Croatian rail carrier HZ Cargo, and in May it acquired an 80% stake in PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL (formerly AWT), the second largest rail freight carrier in the Czech Republic. In November 2017, PKP CARGO acquired the remaining 20% stake in this company. In December 2018, PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL acquired an 80% share in the Slovenian company PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL SI, which received a certificate in 2019 to undertake transports within the Slovenian market.

PKP CARGO Group includes subsidiaries that also provide intermodal transport, domestic and international rail forwarding (PKP CARGO CONNECT) and fleet service and maintenance (PKP CARGOTABOR).

On 30 October 2013, PKP CARGO began trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, becoming the first publicly listed EU rail freight carrier. The value of the IPO, where PKP S.A. sold almost 50% of the shares in PKP CARGO, was PLN 1.42 billion. The company is currently listed in the WIG30 and mWIG40 indexes. Its main shareholder remains PKP S.A.

PKP CARGO Group is active in CSR. It observes the standards of a responsible employment policy, carries out a number of activities for environmental protection, and sponsors the collection of historical railway pieces of European scale at the Railway Open-Air Museum.
