250,000 crowns a year for the nonprofit activities of our employees, 170 kilograms of clothing for the charitable second hand MOMENT, and the incalculable joy of little patients in collaboration with ADRA. This is how the activities of the AWT group can be briefly summarized for the first six months of the year with its projects WE ARE AWT! and AWT HELPS!
The corporate culture of the AWT Group, a member of the PKP CARGO Group, includes its efforts to devote a portion of its funds for charitable purposes as part of social corporate responsibility. For many years now, AWT has been helping its employees, their family members, disabled children and people in difficult life situations. AWT began to offer comprehensive help at a time when the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) was still in its infancy in the Czech Republic. “As one of the largest employers in the Czech Republic, with more than 2,000 employees, we fully recognize that each of us has experienced something difficult in life and each of us knows someone who is in need. That’s why as part of the project WE ARE AWT! and AWT HELPS! we try to direct our help efficiently and precisely where it’s needed most,” says Žaneta Sigmundová, HR director of the AWT group.
Charity clothing collections, annual visits to little patients in hospitals for Children’s Day, voluntary contributions from wages to help colleagues in difficult situations, or material and financial assistance to employees in emergencies. All that is part of the project AWT HELPS! One example speaks for all. Last year the employees of AWT collected a whopping 147,000 crowns among themselves to help coworkers who care for disabled family members. Together with a financial gift from AWT, the four beneficiary families received a total of 187,000 crowns.
The company takes care of voluntary firefighters, coaches for children’s sports clubs, and volunteers caring for children and seniors from the ranks of AWT employees as part of the project WE ARE AWT! Every year it devotes a quarter of a million crowns for the nonprofit and leisure activities of its employees. Each project can receive a subsidy of up to 20,000 crowns. This year the company is dividing up 250,000 crowns among a record 40 submitted projects.
“We know that there is a need to support not only our employees and their leisure and charitable activities, but we also try to contribute financially to other projects and cooperate with NGOs in all regions where AWT operates,” adds Žaneta Sigmundová.
