AWT Rail HU Zrt., which is a member of the AWT group, became the first railway carrier in Hungary to receive the GMP + FSA B4 certificate for the safe transport of agricultural and food products. Advanced World Transport a.s., which received the certificate as the first railway freight carrier in the Czech Republic, has held it since 2014.
The GMP + FSA B4 certificate verifies that an adequate level of handling of these commodities or feed has been achieved, especially with regard to ensuring safety when these goods enter other stages of the food chain.
An external audit was conducted by the company United Registrar of Systems on 9 April 2015 at the company headquarters in Budapest and continued the internal audit conducted at AWT Rail HU in March of this year. As with Advanced World Transport, the certification of AWT Rail HU took place in record time.
“The food and agricultural industry offers many exciting opportunities for us. If we are to remain competitive in the railway freight sector, then being one step ahead of the others is always necessary. Granting the GMP + FSA B4 Certificate to AWT Rail HU is clear proof that we know how to carry products of the food industry reliably and safely,” said AWT group sales director Edin Sose.
Certifying other companies in the AWT group is part of a long-term strategy focusing on new types of transport. The potential of hauling freight from this region has been demonstrated in the past, as AWT is currently hauling food and agricultural products right now from Hungary and neighboring Romania.
“Of course, the certificate not only gives AWT a competitive advantage over the others, but it is also the result of an external audit performed by the auditing company United Registrar of Systems. I am glad that another company in the AWT group has passed a further audit by an independent evaluator,” added Edin Sose.
In addition to, for example, ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 certificates, the GMP + FSA B4 certificate for AWT Rail HU belongs to the set of re-certifications undergone by individual companies of the AWT group.
