International rail carrier Advanced World Transport (AWT), a member of PKP CARGO Group, provides long-term and comprehensive services for repairing railway wagons as part of their services, which primarily include rail and combined transport, forwarding, railway operations, wagon rentals and railway construction. In July this year, another point on the map of the Czech Republic was added in Lovosice, where the company provides these services and has opened a new locomotive depot and wagon repair shop.
The locomotive depot and wagon repair shop were set up on the outskirts of Lovosice on the area of a long idle brownfield that used to serve as a wagon depot in the past. Restoring and revitalizing the depot required the complete reconstruction of the entire premises and buildings.
“AWT has seven locomotive depots throughout the Czech Republic for the maintenance of its fleet and now the city of Lovosice has newly joined the other maintenance centers and will be a key location for the company for the maintenance of locomotives and wagons in the Czech Republic,” says David Kostelník, CEO of AWT.
The complete reconstruction of the area started at the beginning of 2018 and included the repair of tracks, the maintenance hall for locomotives and wagons, putting the turntable into operation, and the overall renovation of the administrative building. Today the locomotive depot and wagon repair shop offer both full-service maintenance for the AWT fleet and all services for locomotives and wagons for external customers.

The opening of the depot and repair shop ended a two-year journey of preparation and implementation of a project that included acquiring new operational facilities in Lovosice as part of its operations in the Czech Republic.
“AWT puts great emphasis on social responsibility, safety and the environment and so invested considerable funds on the premises so that the locomotive depot and wagon repair shop would again become a vibrant and beautiful part of the city for local residents,” adds David Kostelník.
