The international rail carrier PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL, a member of the PKP CARGO Group, a leading European logistics operator, has successfully concluded a review and examination of its activities concerning corporate social responsibility (CSR) in accordance with the ČSN ISO 26000 standard. For many years the companies in the Group have paid great attention to their social responsibility within the framework of the CSR project PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL HELPS! and they consider it an integral part of their businesses.
PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL sees business as not just an opportunity but also an obligation, and that is why their activities stress social responsibility, the environment, an ethical approach to their employees and business partners, occupational safety, education, donations and sponsorship. The companies in the Group spend large amounts of resources to make their businesses both sustainable and responsible.
“Corporate social responsibility is a much-discussed theme inextricably projected into the activities of PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL. For several years it has been ingrained in the entire Group in the form of a CSR Code, Code of Ethics, Employee Code of Conduct, Code of Conduct with External Entities and other similar documents. However, because our customers demand not only the existence of these documents, but also some verification of the quality of our social responsibility, our company underwent an evaluation for the first time in accordance with the ČSN ISO 26000 standard. Guidelines for social responsibility. The evaluation took place online in the form of a questionnaire, which verified the degree of our compliance with the requirements of this standard. The results for the company were excellent and we received a final score of 98%, which clearly confirmed that PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL has a very high level of corporate social responsibility,” says Maciej Walczyk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL.
ČSN ISO 26000 (010390) provides “methodical” guidelines to meet the basic principles of social responsibility, which distinguish social responsibility and the involvement of stakeholders, basic themes and questions concerning social responsibility. It also offers guidelines on ways to integrate socially responsible behavior in the organization. It highlights the importance of getting results and improving our profile in the field of social responsibility for the organization and its sustainable development.
